New scanner software worth a look

For those of you who didn't get to check into or listen in on the net yesterday evening we discussed an interesting new program for Uniden scanners. It's called bctool and is available from the files section of the discussion group created on Yahoo for those using it. Joe, KR3P, has been using it for a while now and is quite impressed with it. Its main drawback at this point in time is that it can not program the trunking function of capable scanners yet. I have been told though that the author is working on it.

My hope is that there will be a version for Linux at some point in the future which will go a long way toward making it my favorite software for programming scanners. I have downloaded the package but not yet installed it on my Windows laptop. I'll have more to say once I have tried it out.

This software is still in the beta stage so you may find some bugs but for the price you can't beat it with a stick. Its free!

Follow this link to learn more about the program and to find out how to download a copy for yourself.
