Step one complete for the Linux upgrade

Well step one is complete in the Linux upgrade path for the main ham shack computer. The man in the brown truck brought a box today from New Egg that contained a one gigabyte memory stick. I have been using this box with 384 megabytes of memory, one 128 and one 256 megabyte sticks, and I can tell you from experience that multi tasking operating systems like lots of memory. It is the least expensive route to faster system performance.

I broke one of my own rules today which is never change more than one thing at a time when trying out something new. I decided since I had the box open to increase the memory that I might as well install the new DVD RW drive that I have sitting on the operating desk. All went well so the next step is to upgrade to version 10.0 of SuSe which I'm looking forward to. Can't decide if I should start on it tonight or get some sleep and tackle it in the morning. In either case if my next posting is from my laptop you will know it did not go well.
